Levenshulme Village Green – Good Causes

On Tuesday 26th September, Dowhigh Ltd took a team over to Levenshulme to help Mark O’Pray of Manchester City Council with a project to clean up the village green.

Located on Chapel Street in the town, the green is a small park area complete with park benches, raised beds, a small village green and trees.

Unfortunately, a lot of the green had overgrown and become untidy. When a request was put out for assistance the management team of Dowhigh agreed to help by providing a team to tidy up the area… not only for the community but also in preparation for brand new murals being painted on some of the walls around the area.

The Dowhigh team provided labour, skill and equipment to:

  • Remove plant trellises and dead roots from walls
  • Tidy up planters around the village green
  • Cut back and tidy up the raised beds area
  • Planting new plants in the planters and raised beds
  • Clean the path around the raised bed area as well as around the park benches
  • Trim back the lower branches of the trees
  • Put down seed to generate bed growth in upcoming years
  • Give the area a general tidy up

The raised beds were completely overgrown and had to be severely trimmed back to allow for the new plants to be planted – clearing a large area for the community to add their own plants and create a green space for the future.

Ably assisted by Mark, the Dowhigh team did an amazing job of making the area look great.

We were also visited by Councillor Zahid Hussain who came to see the work that was being undertaken.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to you and all the team for a great job, my ward members wanted to pass on their gratitude and we hope to work with the team again in the future
