Community Spirit in Full Force in Southport

Massive community spirit shown this morning after the disturbances which occurred in Southport last night.

A huge clean up operation began in the early hours and it was amazing to see so much community spirit with local companies, residents and Sefton Council coming together to bring some sort of normality to the area.

Media presence in force with reporters from both regional and national stations and media reporting on the events as they are happening.

The Dowhigh team first attended site at 3am this morning and had a large team of staff in place to help with the clean up, which included staff to assist with the surface reinstatement as well as to help local residents.

The community showed their togetherness by bringing food and drinks to all of the people helping with many bringing their own brushes and shovels to help.

Dowhigh would like to thank all of those people and companies involved, especially Graysons of Ainsdale who provided the Dowhigh team with drinks and food.

At this time we are working with Sefton Council to resurface those locations that need reinstatement so that we can get the roads re-opened as quickly as possible.

The town has shown amazing spirit with people laying flowers at the scene as well as the vigil that took place outside the Atkinson on Tuesday evening. It’s been heartwarming to see so many people come together in a town which is still in mourning.

Our thoughts go out to everyone caught up in these scenes and we hope that the people who have lost loved ones or those with families and friends involved in the tragic events of Monday can be given the time to grieve without any further incidents.
