Supporting The Southport Community

More than a month has now passed since the tragic events that occurred on the 29th July 2024, and although the memory of the day is still fresh in most people’s minds, Southport is attempting to recover through the support and goodwill of many groups, communities and individuals who are committed to raising money to help those involved. And we’re proud to be part of those efforts.

Dowhigh have been involved with the efforts across the town – from assisting with the road closures on the day to the clean up after the riots on St. Lukes / Sussex Road on the following day. And we’ve been honoured to have been recognised for our support both from 10 Downing Street as well as King Charles in his recent visit to the town.

But we’re also playing our part in the local efforts including:

  • Sponsoring the recent Southport Athletic JFC event which raised over £2.5k to the Southport Stronger Together fundraiser (a JustGiving account which has raised over £200k). You can donate at: www.justgiving.com/campaign/southport-strong-together
  • One of our vehicles will be part of the Southport Charity Truck Run on the 7th September, leaving from Tarleton at 6pm and heading through Southport. The Truck Run has been set up to raise money for those involved and has currently raised nearly £135k, surpassing it’s original £125k target. You can donate at: https://lnkd.in/eXST96zf
  • On the 18th September, we’ll be providing our support to the Southport Veterans 24 Hour Walking Football event being held at Dunes Leisure Centre. This fund has been set up to help the schools of the three children – Marshside, Churchtown and Farnborough Road. Currently, the fund has raised just under £7k, after it raised it’s original target of £3k to £6k. You can make a donation at: https://lnkd.in/eizBir-B

The town is still recovering from this tragedy, and we’re honored to be playing our part in helping those groups and individuals who are committed to raising money to help the families and people involved.
