Project Overview
In September 2018, Dowhigh Ltd was tasked to replace defective concrete reinforced slabs deemed unrepairable, in total Dowhigh removed almost 40 separate slabs amounting to approximately 1100m2.
Leckwith Road is the access road within a busy industrial estate, occupying business working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. After thoroughly negotiating all options with neighbouring businesses a programme was delivered, spanning the works over 6 separate night, and 9 months.
The works started at 6pm on a Friday evening under designated road closures, and continued through the night and into Saturday morning.
The works were performed by our in house over two shifts via two separate work forces, each site visit required two 13t hitachi tracked excavators, two number 32t tippers, one insulated tarmac wagon, Small Vogel paver to fit inside the concrete slabs, air master, road sweeper and three lighting towers.
By 11am when the nearby bus depot opened, Dowhigh had managed to remove the reinforced concrete slabs and unsuitable materials, replacing with MOT, 100mm road base, 60mm heavy duty binder and 40mm superflex surface course.
