Dowhigh are currently improving the A565 Formby By-Pass cycle path in an upgrade covering over 2245m in length.
The section, which starts just before Woodvale on the South Bound approach and finishing just before Southport Road / Southport Old Road will see a new 2m wide footpath created, reducing the cycle path to 2.5m, but making the path far safer for both cyclists and pedestrians.
The project, part of an agreed £14 million pound initiative for upgrades to transportation upgrades across the borough and primarily financed by Active Travel funding, is phase one of a proposed two phase update for the footpath.
