Scope of works: Modification to Kenyons Lane Junction, resurfacing highway, creation of segregated cycle routes along A59, cycleway continuation at Robins Island, improvements to traffic lights, drainage and street lighting


Full Scope of Works
Modification to Kenyons Lane Junction
- Design and Installation of a new CYCLOPS signal arrangement to enhance traffic flow and improve safety for cyclists and pedestrians.
- Upgrade of traffic signals and associated equipment
- Provision of new road markings.
- Reconfiguration of junction layout to accommodate the CYCLOPS signal system and additional cycle lanes.
Resurfacing of the highway to improve ride quality and durability
- Footway upgrades, including new surfacing, kerbing, and drainage improvements where necessary.
- Provision of new kerbs to segregate the footways and cycle lanes from the vehicle lanes.
- Reinstallation of street lighting to meet safety and operational requirements.
Creation of Segregated Cycle Routes along the A59
- Construction of dedicated, segregated cycleways along both sides of the A59, extending the full length of the scheme.
- New cycleway surfacing with appropriate materials to provide a smooth, safe riding surface.
- Provision of kerbs and physical barriers where necessary to separate cyclists from other road users, especially in high-traffic areas.
Cycleway Continuation at Robbins Island Junction
- Extension of the segregated cycle route around the Robbins Island junction to create seamless connectivity for cyclists.
- Installation of controlled push-button pedestrian and cyclist crossing facilities across the A59, enhancing safety.
- Adjustment of traffic signals at Robbins Island to accommodate cycle-specific phases and push-button controls.
- Provision of appropriate road markings and signs to guide cyclists and pedestrians through the junction.
Supporting Works
- Traffic Management: Traffic management plans will be developed and implemented to minimize disruption during the construction phase. This will include lane closures, diversions, and safe access for pedestrians and cyclists.
- Highway Drainage: Installation or upgrading of highway drainage systems as necessary to prevent water accumulation and maintain road safety.
